Sacramento River fishing report May 1st 2025!

I just wrapped up my 2025 Sacramento River striped bass season in Colusa, what a season. I started on April 1st catching lots of fish. It was a season to remember. There were lots of days where my clients just said that’s enough catching. It was that good. Remember if you are interested in this fishery for next year book ahead of time. It’s a 30 day fishery for me. Right in the prime of there migration up river to spawn.

I will be switching over to fishing wild rainbow’s on the Sacramento River in Redding California, this is one of my favorite fisheries, we will be side drifting with ultra light g.loomis rods with 6lb test line catch 5 to 6 lb wild fish!! It’s a blast. We will be fly fishing also for these fish.

Shasta lake will also be on our list, if you choose to keep fish then Shasta lake is a great place to fill up your cooler with lots of trout/salmon and German browns. Mid May through July is the magic time on lake Shasta to catch all kinds of fish. We got lots going on around Northern California, before I head to Oregon for king salmon, in mid July on the famous rogue river.

Sacramento River wild Rainbow’s!!

Shasta Lake in Northern California will be a great destination this spring also!

Don’t forget to book in advance for king salmon season, in Gold beach Oregon. To catch world class king salmon!! I will be running trips daily mid July through mid September.
