Sacramento River fishing report 12/5/2021

The Sacramento River king salmon fishing, not much has changed as in the fishing or the weather. We are in a dry spell here in Northern California, it looks like we will have a shot at some rain at the end of next week. The salmon fishing in the famous barge hole continues to be the best place to be right now. Most guides are doing best at first light on flat fish and kwick fish in the 16 and 15 size plugs. In silver and green. Every one for the most part sits on anchor for the first couple hours waiting for there chance at a Sacramento king king salmon! There are plenty of king salmon in the barge hole. But as the morning wares on the bite gets really challenging. Fishing freshly cured salmon eggs will start to be a good bet after the plug bite is over. There are people catching king salmon from the cottonwood area all the way down to the Sacramento area. So there are lots of king salmon that will continue to fill the holes up in the upper river. Things will get a little easier in the next week or so. The Sacramento River salmon season will end on December 30th so we got a couple of good solid weeks of good fishing ahead of us. We are booking king salmon trips for 2022 on the Sacramento River now, the peak time is mid august through October. The 2022 Sacramento River salmon season will open on July 16. July is a really good time to start getting after the king salmon. There are some of the brightest kings of the season. Some days we will have the river to ourselves in July. It’s pretty nice! Make sure you get on the calendar sooner then later for the 2022 king salmon season on the Sacramento River.
