Sacramento River king salmon / Rainbow trout fishing report! 5/7/2026

Sacramento River salmon season starts July 16th through December 31st 2 fish limit. We are more than excited to have our king salmon season back. We are expecting over 300,000 kings to migrate up the Sacramento River. We haven’t seen these numbers in years. So it’s going to be a season not to miss. I will be running trips starting September 1st through December 31st every day.

These are the prime months to fish kings on the Sacramento River, now is the time to book your trips. I will be running brads killer fish with sardine wraps, and drifting special cured eggs! I will start my season in the Woodson bridge area in September then move north as the fish push there way further up river.

As of now I just finished up my striped bass season on the Sacramento River, it was a great 35 days straight of catching limits of striped bass, I will be fishing the Sacramento River in Redding ca, for wild Rainbow trout. Side drifting small pieces of roe on 6lb test line and ultra light rods. This trip is action packed with a beautiful drift down the Sacramento River, May through July are prime months for this fishery.
