Sacramento River fishing Report June 21st 2026
Current Conditions
Wild rainbow trout fishing is reported as “very good” in the Redding-to-Red Bluff section.
Summer flows remain favorable for drift and bank anglers targeting riffles, seams, and tailouts. Trout are holding in oxygen-rich current breaks and deeper buckets during midday.
Early morning and late evening are producing the best action as water temperatures rise.
Best Spin-Fishing Techniques Right Now
Inline spinners
Panther Martin, Blue Fox Vibrax, and Rooster Tail style spinners.
Silver blades early; gold or copper when the sun gets higher.
Cast quartering upstream and retrieve just fast enough to keep the blade turning.
Small spoons
1/8–1/4 oz Kastmasters and Little Cleos.
Effective in deeper runs and tailouts.
. Side drifting small pieces of special cured salmon eggs will be the best technique!
Light line
4–6 lb fluorocarbon or a braid-to-fluoro setup.
The river is generally clear, and lighter leaders get more bites.
Productive Water Types
Focus on:
Fast riffles dropping into 4–8 ft runs.
Inside bends with soft current.
Tailouts below gravel bars.
Seams behind mid-river boulders and submerged structure.
